Protection dogs are generally deployed with a Handler in the Security environment to deter crime. These dogs have been established due to its superior ability to use its senses.

In the South African Private Security Industry employment guidelines, this dog remains on-leash with its Handler. The purpose of this dog is purely to increase the level of security, multiply the ability of the security officer, and serve as the security officer’s first line protection.
